The 2.0l SPI is an upgraded version of the 1.9l SEFI engine. The SPI is used in Third Generation Ford Escorts and Mercury Tracers. Base models of the Ford Focus also used a slightly varied version of this same engine.
This engine is a somewhat common swap in Second Generation Escorts and Tracers that originally featured the 1.9l SEFI
While the SPI was never featured with a turbo numerous owners have added turbo systems onto the engine. Numerous methods exist for doing so including adapting turbo components from the earlier CVH versions of the engine or modifying a DSM turbo manifold to fit.
